Our mission to empower young people continues to thrive through our partnership with Sandwell College. This year, we were delighted to welcome 11 talented volunteers to our 2024 Skills Development Programme, focusing on photography, videography and product building, giving them invaluable hands-on experience for their future studies and careers.
A new focus: photography, videography and product building
The 2024 programme marks a new chapter in our collaboration with Sandwell College. Our focus this year is on creative and technical skills that are essential for modern careers and let students express their creativity and innovation.
Throughout the programme, our volunteers have been involved in projects requiring both artistic and technical expertise: capturing our events, producing engaging video content, and developing new products that support HIANA's mission.

Guided by experience: mentorship and growth
Our team provides mentorship and guidance to every student through regular workshops, feedback sessions and one-to-one mentoring, helping them build confidence and refine their skills. Real-world projects let them put classroom knowledge into practice, whether mastering photography, editing video or building products that benefit our community programmes.
Making a difference
The students' creativity and hard work have brought fresh perspectives to HIANA. Their photography and videography have enriched our promotional materials and documented our events beautifully, and their ideas have led to new tools and resources that support our community outreach.
Looking forward
We plan to expand the programme to include more students and more skill areas. Educational institutions, businesses and individuals can get involved by offering placements, volunteering as mentors, or donating to fund the programme.
